Qassam rockets fired at Israel, causing injuries

JERUSALEM, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Two Qassam rockets were fired from the northern Gaza Strip Tuesday morning towards the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, causing damage and injuries, Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported on its website.

One of the rockets landed in the Ashkelon's southern industrial zone, which lightly injured four workers and slightly damaged a building.

The second rocket landed in an open area.

Israel and the Palestinians agreed to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip last November, but some factions, mainly the Islamic Jihad, continued rocket attacks in response to Israeli military actions in the West Bank.

Islamic Jihad spokesman Daoud Shehab told reporters in Gaza on Saturday that the Israeli aggression against Palestinians needs continuing responses.

Last Thursday, The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ended its five-day large-scale arrest operation in the West Bank city of Nablus after detaining some 11 Palestinian militants for interrogation and killing of one elderly Palestinian man.
