Spokesperson: Pakistan to attend anti-terror talks with India with positive mind

  ISLAMABAD, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan would approach the forthcoming meeting of Pakistan-India Joint Mechanism against terrorism with a positive mindset, the Foreign office spokesperson said on Monday.

  The two-day talks on the anti-terrorism mechanism is scheduled to begin in Islamabad on Tuesday.

  "The Indian leadership has assured us that whatever information they have by that time about Samjhota Express tragedy would be shared with Pakistan," spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told a weekly news briefing.

  Pakistan has asked the Indian government to share with it the investigation into the Feb. 18 trans-border train bombing attack which killed over 60 people, mostly Pakistanis.

  About the issue of prisoners and treatment meted out to them, the spokesperson said, "Pakistan always favored greater attention to the plight of prisoners but unfortunately it has not received the kind of cooperation it had hoped for."

  She said both countries will form a committee on prisoners to look into the plight of the prisoners and suggest procedures to both government about humane treatment and their expeditious release.

  Aslam said Pakistan hoped that its meeting would take place soon.

  According to the spokesperson, currently there are 513 Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails including 50 fishermen and 463 civilians.
